What is the difference between CBD oil and a CBD tincture?

For most products sold today, there is none. Both are CBD extract in a carrier oil (usually MCT/coconut oil, sometimes hemp seed or olive oil) in a dropper bottle. A traditional tincture is an alcohol-based extract, but few CBD brands make those, and most brands use the two names for the same product. That is why this page lists both.

Full spectrum, broad spectrum or isolate: which CBD oils contain THC?

Full spectrum oils keep the hemp plant's other cannabinoids, including a small amount of delta-9 THC (labeled at no more than 0.3%). Broad spectrum oils keep other cannabinoids but are processed to remove THC. Isolate oils contain CBD alone and are sold as THC-free. How to compare CBD oils

• Strength per mL: divide bottle mg by bottle mL. A 1000mg, 30mL bottle is about 33mg per mL; a 1000mg, 60mL bottle is about 17mg per mL.
• Bottle size: the most common sizes are 500mg, 1000mg and 1500mg, and many brands go up to 3000mg or 6000mg.
• Added cannabinoids: many oils blend CBD with CBN, CBG or a small amount of THC; the product name usually says so.
• Carrier oil and flavor: MCT, hemp seed or olive oil, unflavored or flavored.
• Lab report: check that the batch or lot number and test date match your bottle, and that measured CBD is close to the label.

Can CBD oil show up on a drug test?

It can. Drug tests look for THC, not CBD, and full spectrum oils contain trace THC that can be detected, especially with regular use. Broad spectrum and isolate oils carry less risk but are not risk-free, because lab results do not always match the label. How do you take a CBD tincture?

Most people place drops under the tongue and hold them briefly before swallowing, or mix them into food or a drink. Strength per dropper varies a lot between bottles, so compare mg per mL rather than bottle mg alone. Follow the serving size on the label, and ask a doctor first if you take other medications.
