Balm, cream or lotion?

A balm is an oil-and-wax base with no water, so it is thicker. A cream contains water and oil and absorbs more quickly. A lotion is thinner still and spreads over larger areas. Menthol versions add a cooling sensation; unscented versions leave out fragrance.

• Compare mg per ounce, since container sizes vary within a line.
• Double Strength versions list higher totals than the standard creams.
